Remote Work, Day 9

I did the math. Since my Day 1 post, there have been an additional 8 working days. Today was... interesting.

Yesterday was great. I got up, had myself some buttered toast with my coffee, and I began to work. I got a lot of things done -- one of which was updating my planner to ensure that I had all of my meetings in order. There was something about today that I just was not feeling. That's even after I essentially replicated my morning: got up, this time had a churro with my coffee, and once again I sat at my husband's desk to do work.

The only thing that I can think of that was different was that I got out of the house around lunch time, took an intentional break for lunch, and then continued working. Instead, today I cooked my lunch (could be considered a break, right?), then sat back down at the desk to do more work. I got plenty done. I'm currently still in the learning stages of my position, and so I spent the majority of my time typing up notes from previous podcasts and chapters I had read. Either way, today I feel more drained with little energy to do anything but work. Actually, I think today is the first day I feel like I could just power through my entire day doing work. Not good. I need to keep this work/life balance that I've kept up in the last couple of weeks.

It seems as though I may need to push myself to go out of the house at lunchtime -- whether it's just to get some fresh air, grab a quick lunch, or even move to a coffee shop. The good news is that I finally have my baby back. She was in the shop, and I got the call to pick her up this evening. I'm excited to have that mobility again. 

Thursday I will be visiting a co-working space. That will also be a great way to figure out this remote working thing. 

Other than that, Caffe Driade in Chapel Hill is my favorite place. I love the outdoor seating it offers. I'll definitely be sitting outside in the fall. It's currently still too hot and humid to enjoy the beautiful scenery it offers -- but the coffee is great; the tea is delicious; and, the pastries are on point. Plus, look at this great indoor ambiance.

This picture here is just a brief look into my room. It is quite nice and spacious. I have so much closet space- the ones you see there are not the only ones. I also have a walk in closet. The bed also pulls out of the wall, so if I wanted more room, I could just put it against the wall.  In this next picture, you can see my own bathroom! I was lucky enough to have one to myself. It´s great because it's like a minitub/shower.Oh, and the washing machine is in there as well.    Here is where i will be having some of my classes. The first is with my Carleton professor (he will be teaching us about Urban Life) and the other will be with a professor here in Spain, Prof. Teresa Delgado, and she will be teaching us about the history of Spain. My latest happenings

Another day in the city of Madrid and let me tell you, so much can happen in the course of, well, less than a week. First of all, I have not been able to update you on a daily basis (because believe I have time!) due to the incompetence of my computer at the moment. Unfortunately, I have been having problems when I start it, as there are times when the screen fails to show; it’s pitch black- no signs of it working whatsoever! This was getting so bothersome (as it has been acting like this for more than a day now) that I restarted my computer so that it was in the same condition it was when I initially got it. However, that also means that I have lost of my pictures- from the time I was in Mexico up until the ones I had taken a few days ago. The only ones that have been saved are those on CDs, those online, and those that I managed to not erase in my camera. The same goes for my music- all gone! No worries though. Always too much to say

Well hi everyone! I am sure you missed me from the last time I decided to post something. This time I will talk to you about how crazy these first five weeks are going to be. To put it as simply as I possibly can- these first five weeks are going to be crazy and full of work. My first impression of Paris To begin with I hope to tell you about my first week here. Last time I finished by talking about the fact that I was at the airport in Amsterdam. Well, once I boarded the plane there at around 3:30P (around 8:30A CT), all I knew was that I was getting on a plane to my final destination for four months. Exhaustion can only hardly describe what I was feeling at that moment. At most, the flight was about an hour long. All I remember before that hour was getting onto the plane, getting ready for takeoff, closing my eyes (and somewhat waking-up to the departure) and then nothing.
